5 reasons why Xiaomi 12S Pro camera is better than HUAWEI P50 Pro?

A new era of mobile photography has begun with the Xiaomi 12S, Xiaomi 12S Pro and 12S Ultra, which were unveiled on July 4. Xiaomi, which has the LEICA signature after HUAWEI and Sharp, introduced the new Xiaomi 12S series, drawing lessons from its failure with the Xiaomi 12 Pro. The models were not launched globally, are only available on the Chinese market and are therefore not included in the DXOMARK ranking.

The fact that the Xiaomi 12S series is not listed in the DXOMARK rankings does not represent a failure. According to the photo samples released by Xiaomi, the Xiaomi 12S Pro and 12S Ultra are the Android smartphones with the best camera ever. It has a better camera setup than the HUAWEI P50 Pro, which is equipped with the LEICA optics. There are 5 proofs that the Xiaomi 12S Pro is better than the second HUAWEI model in the DXOMARK ranking.

Xiaomi 12S Pro is equipped with the latest Sony camera sensor

The Sony IMX 707 camera sensor in the new model was first used in the Xiaomi 12 Pro. The Xiaomi 12 Pro, which was unveiled in the last days of 2021, does not have LEICA optics and is therefore not as powerful as the 12S Pro in terms of camera performance. The LEICA- tuned lenses do an excellent job with Sony’s latest camera sensor. This camera sensor is 1/1.28 inches. The HUAWEI P50 Pro’s camera sensor is Sony IMX 766 and its size is 1/1.56 inch.

In comparison, the sensor of the Xiaomi 12S Pro is much larger than that of the HUAWEI P50 Pro. Larger camera sensors can capture a high amount of light, which results in clearer images during day and night shots.

Better ultra wide angle sensor

The ultra-wide-angle sensor of the Xiaomi 12S Pro is better than that of the HUAWEI P50 Pro. Samsung S5KJN1 ultra-wide-angle camera of the Xiaomi 12S Pro can take photos with a resolution of up to 50MP. While the maximum angle value is not specified in the HUAWEI model, the Xiaomi 12S Pro can take 115-degree ultra-wide shots. The camera has an aperture of f/2.2, this is the same as that of the HUAWEI P50 Pro. The ultra-wide-angle camera on the HUAWEI P50 Pro has a resolution of 13MP. In comparison, the Xiaomi 12S Pro is better in this respect.

Better ISP

The image signal processor (ISP) plays an important role in acquiring the photo. The data from the camera sensor is processed by the ISP and software, and the final result is comes out. Flagship Qualcomm Snapdragon SoCs are always equipped with a superior ISP, but the Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 in the HUAWEI P50 Pro is inferior in terms of ISP because it is older than the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 in the Xiaomi 12S Pro.

Up-to-date Android version & better camera software capabilities

With each new Android version, Google gives more importance to the camera and makes additions to improve it. The latest version, Android 12, brings important innovations to the camera compared to Android 11. The image quality issues that occurred in previous versions have been largely fixed with Android 12, which is due to the updated camera APIs. Xiaomi 12S Pro runs Android 12, the latest Android version, and MIUI 13, the latest MIUI version. HUAWEI P50 Pro, on the other hand, runs EMUI 12, which is based on Android 11. MIUI 13 has a camera app with many features and is more capable compared to the EMUI camera.

Google Camera Support

Google Camera (Gcam) is a camera application offered with Pixel phones and has become indispensable for Xiaomi users. The reason why users like this application is that it can take better quality photos than many stock camera apps and it can be easily modified. You can not download and install Google Camera from Google Play Store. Gcam is ported to each device, so you should be able to find the app that works your device.

The Gcam support of Xiaomi models is quite high, many developers adapt Google Camera to Xiaomi models. Since the Xiaomi 12S Pro is a newly released model, it does not currently have the Google Camera Port APK, but it will have this support in the future.

Conclusion

Xiaomi 12S Pro does a great job with LEICA. Xiaomi, the number one Android smartphone company, has taken camera performance to the next level with its new move, overtaking HUAWEI. Instead of the LEICA signature, HUAWEI will now carry the XMAGE signature on its cameras. The HUAWEI P50 Pro lags behind the Xiaomi 12S Pro in terms of camera features, but the Mate 50 series could be a big competitor to Xiaomi.
