OnePlus reportedly working on 240Hz models

According to a new claim, OnePlus could soon introduce models with a standard 240Hz refresh rate.

The brand recently unveiled the OnePlus 15 and OnePlus Ace 6, both of which feature a 165Hz refresh rate. It can be recalled that the move resulted in some fans questioning why the brand decreased the resolution of the phones to 1.5K, but the company underscored that it was not a matter of saving money. As OnePlus explained, the current technology limits displays to the specified resolution when using a 165Hz refresh rate.

Nonetheless, according to a new tip, OnePlus could soon “achieve the perfect balance between high resolution and a 240Hz dynamic refresh rate.” It was not specified which model(s) would utilize the said refresh rate, but the brand is allegedly aiming to introduce the technology to the market in the coming years.

To recall, the current market features the Asus ROG Phone II and Black Shark 2 Pro, both of which have a 240Hz touch sampling rate. There’s also Sharp, which offers it as a standard refresh rate in several of its models. For instance, the Sharp Aquos sense10 has a 6.1″ Pro IGZO OLED display with an FHD+ resolution of 2340x1080px and a 1 to 240Hz variable refresh rate. There’s also the Sharp Aquos R9 Pro, which boasts a 6.7″ Pro IGZO OLED display with a Quad HD+ resolution of 3120x1440px and a variable refresh rate from 1 to 240Hz. As such, if OnePlus is indeed working on 240Hz models, it is possible that the devices’ resolution could range within the same numbers as the models mentioned above.
