Xiaomi 17 Max reportedly getting Dimensity SoC

Instead of the earlier-rumored Snapdragon chip, a new claim says the Xiaomi 17 Max will actually use a Dimensity processor.

The Xiaomi 17 series will soon add a new member with a “Max” moniker. It has been featured in several leaks in the past few days, including its powerful chip. According to reports, it would rely on the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chip. However, more recent information from a reputable leaker suggests otherwise.

From the Qualcomm chips its other series siblings are using, new rumors say that the Chinese giant will now shift to MediaTek to power the Max model. That’s according to the reputable tipster Digital Chat Station, who mentioned a “large screen Dimensity” phone in a conversation with a fan, believed to be the said Max model.

According to earlier reports, the phone will also feature the largest battery in the series with a capacity of around 8000mAh. It reportedly supports 100W wired and 50W wireless charging speeds.

The phone’s camera department is also expected to impress, featuring a 200MP 1/1.4″ Samsung ISOCELL HPE main camera. The system also allegedly includes a 50MP ultrawide unit and a 50MP 1/1.95″ Sony IMX8-series periscope telephoto lens. The phone is rumored to come out in the second quarter of the year.
