New information about the Xiaomi 18 series has surfaced online, hinting at possible upgrades the devices may feature.
The Chinese brand’s next flagship lineup is rumored to come out in September. According to earlier reports, the company will bring some upgrades to the smartphones. Tipster Digital Chat Station added new information about the vanilla model, which is allegedly getting a bigger display.
According to the leaker, the phone’s screen “has increased slightly” and could measure between 6.3 and 6.4 inches. While this seems pretty minimal, the minor increase could allow the manufacturer to include more advanced components, including the rumored 200MP periscope planned for the phone. To recall, the Xiaomi 17 only offers a regular telephoto unit. In the next series, the company will take it even further with the Xiaomi 18 Pro and Xiaomi Pro Max models, which will feature two 200MP cameras: one for the primary telephoto and one for the periscope telephoto.
The brand is also reportedly using two different Snapdragon chips in the series. While the vanilla model will use the regular Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 SoC, the Pro and Pro Max variants could rely on the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro. Needless to say, the next Ultra model could also use Qualcomm’s upcoming Pro processor.
By using different components across standard and higher-end models, Xiaomi could price the devices more distinctly, allowing it to continuously offer the vanilla model at an affordable price.
