The Xiaomi 18 Fold has finally arrived in China, featuring a handful of interesting details, including the brand’s in-house Xring O3 chip.
The Chinese giant is the latest to join the wide foldable competition, with Xiaomi calling it a “mid-fold” smartphone. It will compete against the Huawei Pura X Max and the upcoming Apple iPhone Ultra (formerly known as the iPhone Fold).
It comes with a 7.58″ 2364x1672px 120Hz foldable main display, while its front boasts a 5.38″ 1168x1712px 120Hz screen. Both displays also offer up to 4000nits peak brightness.
One of the main highlights of the phone is the chip it uses, which Xiaomi itself designed. It is a 10-core CPU with two 4.35GHz C1-Ultra cores, four 3.68GHz C1-Premium cores, and four 3.15GHz C1-Pro cores.
Xiaomi earlier shared that the said processor recorded 5,228,014 points on AnTuTu V11, surpassing the performances of all phone chips available today.
On Geekbench 6.5, it scored 3,945 and 15,221 in the single-core and multi-core tests, respectively. While the Apple A19 Pro outperformed it in the former, the Xring O3 significantly overshadowed the Cupertino brand’s chip in the multi-core test.
The Xiaomi 18 Fold also impresses in other sections, including its powerful camera system. To start, despite being a foldable, it houses a 200MP Samsung ISOCELL HP5 1/1.56″ main camera, supported by a 50MP ultrawide and a 50MP periscope telephoto camera with 3.5x optical zoom. The phone also features 16MP external and internal selfie cameras.
Despite its compact form, the mid-fold also houses a huge 6000mAh battery that supports 50W wireless charging, in addition to its regular 67W wired charging capability.
The Xiaomi 18 Fold is available in red, black, gold, and a ceramic special edition. The last option is only available in 16GB/1TB configuration, priced at CN¥15,999 ($2,384). All the other variants come in 12GB/256GB, 12GB/512GB, 16GB/512GB, and 16GB/1TB options, which sell for CN¥10,999, CN¥11,999 ($1,639), CN¥12,999 ($1,937), and CN¥14,999 ($2,235), respectively.
