Xiaomi has affirmed earlier reports that the Xiaomi 18 Pro series will have a hardware-level privacy protection feature.
The Xiaomi 18 Pro and Xiaomi 18 Pro Max will go official in China on September 23. In addition to confirming the designs and colorways of the series, the brand also shared several key details of the lineup, including its new-generation M11 Super Pixel panel.
According to Xiaomi, the screen features an M11 light-emitting system, a new green light-emitting material, a full RGB pixel arrangement, and 4000nits peak brightness. The main highlight of the display, nonetheless, lies in its built-in hardware-level privacy capability.
The brand has yet to reveal the details of the feature, but a leak says that the Smart Privacy Display prevents prying eyes from viewing the screen from the side. It also offers continuous detection and “alerts” users when someone is looking at the screen. It also “allows the device to turn privacy display based on the selected scenario.” The feature can be used on selected applications or used as a device-wide protection.
There’s also the Xiaomi Hyper XiaoAI Groups option, which lets users add apps to a group and specify how the privacy feature applies to them. Meanwhile, the Page Privacy Display is “automatically turned on for specific sensitive pages,” including password input, payment, fund transfer, and messages.
