The much awaited Redmi Note 12 5G and its little sibling Redmi 12C are finally in India! There is now a phone for every price range thanks to Xiaomi’s ongoing addition of new models to the Redmi Note series. Redmi 12C’s base model has a price tag of ₹8,999. Here’s a brief look at Redmi 12C and Redmi Note 12 5G.
Redmi 12C
Redmi 12C comes in four colors: Lavender Purple, Matte Black, Mint Green and Royal Blue. The phone has plastic frame and a fingerprint sensor at the back, weighs 192 grams. Redmi 12C features MediaTek Helio G85 chipset and 6.71″ LCD display with 60 Hz refresh rate.
MediaTek Helio G85 is paired with 4 GB RAM / 64 GB storage or 6 GB RAM / 128 GB storage. Redmi 12C unfortunately comes with eMMC instead of a fast UFS storage. Redmi 12C Packs 5000 mAh battery with 10W charging. The charging port is microUSB.
On the back there is a dual camera system with a 50 MP main camera and a QVGA depth sensor. On the front it features a 5 MP selfie camera with a 1/5″ sensor size. Redmi 12C is capable of recording videos at 1080p 30 FPS. The phone features 3.5mm headphone jack and SD card slot as well (2 SIM card and 1 dedicated SD card) and it’s IP52 rated.

Redmi Note 12 5G
Redmi Note 12 5G comes in three colors: Frosted Green, Matte Black and Mystique Blue. Redmi Note 12 5G is powered by Snapdragon 4 Gen 1, on the front we’re greeted with 6.67″ OLED display with 120 Hz refresh rate.
Snapdragon 4 Gen 1 is paired with three different storage and RAM configurations, in India 4/128, 6/128 and 8/256 variants will be available. Redmi Note 12 5G features UFS 2.2 as the storage unit and base variant is priced at ₹17,999.
Although Redmi Note 12 5G is more feature rich than Redmi 12C it weighs less than Redmi 12C. Xiaomi advertises Redmi Note 12 5G with “Slimmest Note ever”, the phone measures 165.88mm x 76.21mm x 7.98mm and weighs 188 grams. Redmi Note 12 5G features 5000 mAh battery with 33W fast charging.
On the back, Redmi Note 12 5G features triple camera system with 48 MP main camera, 8 MP ultra wide angle camera and 2 MP macro camera. 13 MP front facing camera is present as well. Redmi Note 12 5G has 3.5mm headphone jack and hybrid SD card slot (2 SIM or 1 SIM, 1 SD) and it’s IP53 certified.
