Pixel 3a Series final update – release date & more

The guaranteed Android updates for the Pixel 3a series are expected to end this month, but Google is still going to let the Pixel 3a series live for a bit longer. The Pixel 3a series will receive one final update to end their support, and will no longer be receiving updates.

A direct quote from Google to 9to5Google, who originally reported on this topic as well, reads as:

In May 2019, at the launch of the Pixel 3a and Pixel 3a XL, we announced that the devices would receive three years of software updates and three years of security updates from when our devices first became available on the Google Store. The final update for Pixel 3a and Pixel 3a XL will rollout to users by July 2022.”

Next month, Google will release the Android 12 QPR3 update, which the Pixel 3a series will most likely receive as their final update. The Pixel 3a series already do not qualify for the Android 13 betas, so don’t expect any new platform updates for your device.
