You might want to go easy on using the flashlight on your Google Pixel 10 Pro, as it could overheat and cause hardware damage.
Several users have reported in the past few weeks that their LED flashlights have been overheating severely. One of the photos shared online shows the burned (dark brown, not the usual yellow LED element under the diffuser) center of the flashlight module. According to users, the units themselves also overheat when their flashlights are left on for a long period of time. In one instance, the extreme heat of a phone placed face down reportedly burned the palm rest area of a keyboard.
Google still hasn’t issued the address, but some unconfirmed speculation suggests it could be related to the Android 16 QPR3 update. To recall, the company made changes to the system, adding a flashlight brightness adjustment slider that lets users adjust brightness above the default level. There are usually safety mechanisms that turn off flashlights when smartphones overheat, but if the Pixel 10 Pro’s thermal control has an issue, such problems could indeed occur.
The news follows several issues reported with Pixel smartphones in the past months. Just recently, the Google Pixel 10 and Pixel 9 series, as well as the Google Pixel 8 Pro, have experienced lock screen freezes. Last December, users reported experiencing unresponsive touch displays, specifically on the Pixel 10 Pro XL and Pixel 10 Pro. Also, last year, Google Pixel 4a, Pixel 6a, and Pixel 7a all suffered battery issues, prompting the company to recall some units and offer replacement services.
