Honor Magic 9 series goes official… Here are the details

The Honor Magic 9 Super Edition, Honor Magic 9, and Honor Magic 9 Pro Max are finally here.

​The new Honor smartphones offer specific highlights, giving each one their own identity. Needless to say, the Pro Max model is the current top-of-the-line variant of the series, thanks to its Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 chip, two 200MP cameras, ARRI camera tech, and a huge 8800mAh battery.

​The main star of its spec sheet, nonetheless, is its powerful camera system, which includes a 23mm-equivalent 200MP main camera with a 1/1.28” sensor and an f/1.6 aperture. It is complemented by an 85mm-equivalent 200MP 1/1.4” periscope telephoto with 3.7x optical zoom and a 50MP ultrawide. According to Honor, both the main and periscope have CIPA 8.0 gimbal-level image stabilization.

Even more, the system features the ARRI color profiles and cinematic video filters, giving users the ARRI experience instantly. The ARRI partnership also granted the phone the LogC3 Curve and Wide Gamut 3 recording capabilities.

The cherry on top of the camera system is the optional 500mm teleconverter lens attachment, which also comes with a SmallRig camera cage. Users can even add more accessories in the latter, such as an LED flash, a grip, and a microphone.

​The vanilla Honor Magic 9 is also an impressive camera smartphone, packed into a small body. It features a 200MP 1/1.4” (f/1.9) main camera with CIPA 7.5 stabilization. The same stabilization grade is also found in its 200MP 1/1.56” periscope unit, which works alongside a 50MP ultrawide.

​As promised, Honor also brought the earlier rumored square selfie camera. The vanilla model houses a 55MP 1:1 1/2.74” selfie unit, offering an f/2.0 aperture. In addition to its ARRI features, the vanilla model supports the G200 teleconverter attachment.

​The Super Edition, on the other hand, focuses on a larger battery: an 11,000mAh cell. If you think that’s all, the phone also impresses in other sections. It also has a powerful Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chip, which is paired with up to 16GB of LPDDR5X RAM. Even more, it has a large vapor chamber and a 30,000 RPM active cooling fan, resulting in 30% better heat dissipation. It is also an efficient camera smartphone through its 200MP 1/1.55” main camera and a 50MP 3x telephoto.

​The vanilla model is available in Black, Olive Green, Yellow, and White shades. Its configurations include 12GB/256GB, 12GB/512GB, 16GB/512GB, and 16GB/1TB. Pricing starts at CN¥5,000 ($745).

​The Super Edition is also available in Black, Olive Green, Yellow, and White. Its RAM/storage options include 12GB/256GB, 12GB/512GB, 16GB/512GB, and 16GB/1TB. Pricing starts at CN¥4,500 ($671).

​Ultimately, the Pro Max comes in Shadow Black, Glacier Silver, and Moss Green colorways. It is available in 12GB/256GB, 12GB/512GB, 16GB/512GB, and 16GB/1TB. Pricing starts at CN¥6,499 ($968).
