Honor reportedly testing 185Hz, 1.5K displays

Honor aims to push the boundaries of smartphone displays by combining a 1.5K resolution with a 185Hz refresh rate.

The current market offers smartphones with 120Hz displays as the standard. Recently, we’ve welcomed new models offering screens with 144Hz or 165Hz refresh rates, including the OnePlus 15 and OnePlus Ace 6.

However, according to a reliable leaker, Digital Chat Station, Honor aims to surpass these numbers. The tipster revealed that the Chinese brand is now testing a display with a 185Hz refresh rate and a 1.5K resolution.

With a higher refresh rate, the display refreshes more frequently each second. This enables the visuals to appear smoother and more fluid, providing an advantage for gaming and video playback.

However, there’s a downside to introducing a model with a 185Hz refresh rate. First, it could mean a higher battery power consumption for the device. It could also result in higher prices, as the production of these displays will be costly. Ultimately, there’s still a lack of sufficient applications supporting this high refresh rate. As such, having a 185Hz phone might be entirely useless unless app developers create and adjust their applications and programs to support such a refresh rate.
