Honor unveils ‘Robot Phone’ with gimbal-armed flipping camera… and it looks familiar

Honor gave fans a peek at its latest project: the Robot Phone. Interestingly, the phone appears to have the same concept as the device the company presented years ago.

The company shared some clips showing the device, which is still in the concept phase. Despite this, the idea is really promising.

The phone is equipped with a camera that unfolds from its island module on the back. The idea is somewhat similar to that of the Honor 7i, which debuted in 2015. To recall, the now-discontinued phone had a 13MP camera that could flip 180 degrees to serve as both the rear and front-facing camera.

The main difference between the two, however, is the more powerful system of the Robot Phone. As the brand suggested, the device’s camera can operate independently, depending on the content it is capturing. Knowing Honor, it is unsurprising that the device is armed with its AI tech

While the Robot Phone is really impressive based on the materials shared by the company, it is important to note that it is still a concept. The tech, nonetheless, is expected to be presented at MWC Barcelona 2026. Yet, it is unknown if Honor will actually show the handheld’s actual unit at the event.

For now, Honor suggests fans visit its website and register to receive updates about the project’s development.
