Huawei has finally reclaimed the top position from Apple in China’s smartphone market for 2025.
China is a crucial market for all smartphone makers due to its size. Apple, despite being a foreign brand, has managed to outshine its competitors in recent years. In 2025, however, International Data Corporation reported that Huawei became the market’s leading contributor in smartphone shipments.
According to the research firm, the Chinese manufacturer gained 16.4% market share (46.7 million shipment units). This, nonetheless, is not far from Apple’s 16.2% share, translating to a slim margin of 0.2%.
The news follows reports that Apple faced challenges in its iPhone 17 Air sales. Meanwhile, Huawei strived last year, thanks to its recent releases, including the Huawei Pura 80 series, Huawei Mate X7, Huawei Mate XT, Huawei Mate 80 series, and the Huawei Nova 14 series. To recall, the Huawei Pura 80 Ultra was even featured in Time Magazine’s Best Inventions of 2025.
