Huawei unveils Mate 80 series, Mate X7… Here are the details

The Huawei Mate 80 series and the Huawei Mate X7 are now official in China.

The Mate 80 lineup consists of the vanilla Huawei Mate 80, Huawei Mate 80 Pro, Huawei Mate 80 Pro Max, and Huawei Mate 80 RS.

There are several differences among the models, including the chips inside them. While the vanilla houses the Kirin 9020, the rest of the series variants have the Kirin 9030 series SoCs.

The Pro Max and RS models also feature larger batteries and faster charging speeds, with both boasting 6000mAh cells and 100W charging support. Compared to the standard and Pro models, the two higher-tier devices also have better camera systems, thanks to their 50MP macro telephoto and 50MP 6.2x periscope telephoto units. Additionally, the RS model is available in 20GB RAM variants. Wrapping up the entire series is the bright display, which can reach up to 8000nits of brightness.

Meanwhile, the Mate X7 brings several upgrades over its predecessor. Like the Mate series, it features the new Kirin 9030 chip, a bigger battery, and an enhanced camera system. The protection ratings of the phone have also been beefed up, with the device now boasting IP58 and IP59 ratings. Even more, it is now thinner and lighter (4.5mm unfolded, 235g) compared to the foldable series’ last generation, and has a 20GB RAM option.

The Mate X7 is available in four colorways: Black, White, Purple, and Red. Its configurations include 12GB/256GB, 12GB/512GB, 16GB/512GB, and 20GB/1TB, priced at CN¥12,999 ($1,830), CN¥13,999 ($1,970), CN¥14,999 ($2,111), and CN¥17,999 ($2,534), respectively. Sales start on December 5.

On the other hand, the vanilla and Pro models of the Mate 80 series are available in Spruce Green, Snow White, Obsidian Black, and Dawn Gold colors. The Huawei Mate 80 Pro Max is available in Aurora Blue, Polar Day Gold, Polar Silver, and Polar Night Black, while the Mate 80 RS comes in Hibiscus Purple, Jet Black, and Pure White.
