A new leak suggests the iQOO 16 will feature a display with a 185Hz refresh rate.
The iQOO 15 debuted with a 6.85” flat Samsung M14 2K (3168×1440px) 144Hz LTPO AMOLED. According to tipster Smart Pikachu, the brand’s next flagship model will get an upgraded screen and is now testing the Samsung 2K displays that support 165Hz and 185Hz refresh rates.
If true, this will be an interesting move for the company, especially if it is actually complemented by a 2K resolution. To recall, most devices with the said refresh rate (e.g., the Honor Win series) only support 1.5K resolution. Moreover, it could help it compete with the OnePlus 16, which is rumored to come with a 240Hz display.
Sadly, such a huge upgrade could mean a higher price tag, especially since the device could also get a bigger battery and a new chip, the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6. This won’t be a surprise, though, since several upcoming models are expected to see price hikes due to rising memory costs.
According to an earlier report, the iQOO 16 could arrive with a base 12GB/256GB configuration priced at CN¥5000. To recall, its predecessor is priced at CN¥4199/$590 for the same configuration.
