iQOO X concept phone showcased with futuristic specs, eye-watering price tag

iQOO has shared its concept smartphone, the iQOO X, with the public. The device boasts specs that, interestingly, are still years into the future.

The brand discussed the device at an event, flaunting a design featuring a protruding horizontal pill-shaped camera island. The images shared by the company also showed the phone in black and white variants.

According to iQOO, the phone is powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 10 Pro and its self-developed QX e-sports chip. The former is what makes it interesting, since Qualcomm has yet to reveal the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro as its next flagship chip, so Vivo might be envisioning the iQOO X as a phone set to be unveiled years into the future.

The company also shared that the phone would house a 15,000mAh battery. To recall, the Honor X80 Pro Max offers the biggest battery in the market to date at 11,000mAh, and the same brand is rumored to be preparing a 12,000mAh model. Currently, the largest battery among Vivo models is in the Vivo Y600 Pro (10,200mAh), while the largest battery in the iQOO brand will soon be offered by the upcoming iQOO Z11S (10,000mAh).

The phone is also said to offer a 7″ 2K+ LTPO 6.0 OLED with an extraordinary ultrasonic fingerprint sensor that covers half of the screen, a whopping 240Hz refresh rate, and a true full-screen design (under-display selfie camera). Even more interesting, the brand claims it is designed with a dynamic AI partition refresh capability, allowing the display’s segments to refresh independently.

Other highlights of the phone include a 200MP Sony main camera, a 200MP Samsung periscope telephoto, and a 50MP Samsung ultrawide.

Ultimately, Vivo shared the possible pricing of the iQOO X. According to the company, it will be offered in 12GB/512GB, 16GB/512GB, 16GB/1TB, and 24GB/1TB, priced at CN¥6,999 ($1038), CN¥7,399 ($1097), CN¥7,799 ($1157), and CN¥8,599 ($1275), respectively.

This pricing is interesting, given the current state in the industry, which is suffering from a memory crisis and price increases. As such, if the other upgrades of the phone are also taken into account (the future Snapdragon chip, battery, high-quality display, and more), the iQOO X may cost more than the numbers mentioned if the brand decides to put it into production.
