Today, the new MediaTek Dimensity 8200 SOC was introduced by MediaTek. This chip is a Dimensity 8100 with some improvements. One month after the introduction of the Dimensity 9200, the SOC that will power the new mid-range smartphones looks amazing. Some of the most important features of the new chipset are the improvements made by the ISP.
MediaTek Dimensity 8200 Specifications
The new MediaTek Dimensity 8200 has higher clock speeds than its predecessor. The 2.85GHz Cortex-A78 core is boosted to 3.1GHz. This increases single-core performance and also provides a good improvement in multi-core performance. The Dimensity 8200 comes with an 8-core CPU setup. The highest performance core is 3.1 GHz Cortex-A78. The remaining cores are 3x 3.0GHz Cortex-A78 and 4x 2.0GHz Cortex-A55. 4MB L3 cache is offered as in the previous SOC. LPDDR5X and UFS 3.1 memory are supported by SOC. There are minor improvements.
On the GPU side, the new SOC is powered by the 6-core Mali-G610. The GPU supports AI powered VRS. The shadows change according to the situation in the game. The VRS feature reduces power consumption and improves performance by reducing shadow in required scenes. It uses a Vulkan SDK for ray tracing technology. 120Hz WQHD+ / 180Hz Full HD+ screens can be used on devices with this SOC.
Significant improvements are found in the ISP section. Because now 320MP sensors are supported with this SOC. Any smartphone manufacturer will be able to add a 320MP camera sensor to the MediaTek Dimensity 8200 smartphone. 14-Bit Triple ISP can take 32MP+32MP+32MP photos with 3 lenses at the same time.
As for the modem, it is the same feature as the previous Dimensity 8100. Peak speed of 4.7Gbps can be reached in 5G connection. Wifi technology is Wifi-6E. This is how the new MediaTek Dimensity 8200 SOC features. It is a new, much-improved version of the previous Dimensity 8100. Xiaomi’s Redmi K60E will have this SOC.
