Mi 9T Pro / Redmi K20 Pro in 2022 | Is it still usable?

August 21, 2019, this great masterpiece from Xiaomi, Mi 9T Pro/Redmi K20 Pro, has been released. It had a gorgeous screen, three cameras in the back, over the top Snapdragon 855 SOC, a killer 4000 mAh battery, and it got released as 64/128/256GB storage options, no need to even talk about the colors!

But, the question is, is it still usable for daily driving for today’s standards?

Hardware

The Mi 9T Pro / Redmi K20 Pro uses the 2019 flagship Snapdragon 855 which was Qualcomm’s first SOC to switch to 1+3+4 CPU setup. With Cortex-A76, the CPU can reach the clock speed up to 2.84 GHz. With the Adreno 640 GPU, the graphics of your games will be crystal clear and you won’t have any lags at all! The storage differs as 64GB/6GB RAM, 128GB/6GB RAM and 256GB/8GB RAM and uses UFS 2.1, the specs were top notch for a phone released in 2019, they’re still alright now, but there are phones that literally kicks this device over. The battery is a 4000 mAh Li-Po battery, supports fast charging up to 27W. The screen is a 1080 x 2340 pixels Super AMOLED/HDR screen with no notch, because, you know, the pop up camera.

Performance

If you’re really looking for a device which you can take great photos, listen to lossless music, play games without any lags, even stream your screen while you’re talking to your friend over phone, Mi 9T Pro / Redmi K20 Pro is still the best choice for you. you can still play your PUBG Mobile, Genshin Impact, Call of Duty, even Tetris with no lags at all!

Camera

The rear cameras are a triple camera setup, first camera is a 48MP f/1.8 Wide camera with Sony IMX586 sensor, second camera is an 8MP f/2.4 Telephoto camera with OmniVision OV8856 camera sensor and the third camera is a 13MP f/2.4 Ultrawide camera with Samsung S5K3L6 sensor. Software

The Mi 9T Pro / Redmi K20 Pro has reached the end of its update life, it won’t be receiving Android 12, nor 13, but it got MIUI 12.5, so that’s a relief. Although, it is unknown that it will receive a MIUI 13 update or not. Still, you can install custom roms since this device has a whole lot of development.

Where can i find those custom roms?

Mi 9T Pro / Redmi K20 Pro is also known as “raphael” internally by Xiaomi, and by developers, is amazing when it comes to software. You can find classic roms as Lineage OS, AOSP Extended, regularly used roms such as ArrowOS, YAAP, Pixel Experience, crDroid and many more. There’s both OSS/CAF and MIUI Vendor developed roms available in this device, click here to find out about the roms.

Conclusion | Still worth?

Mi 9T Pro / Redmi K20 Pro is still a great phone, and if you are thinking about buying it, don’t be afraid and buy it, you can still use it with no problems at all, you will stay in Android 11 though, but you still can flash custom roms to make your experience last longer, since this device will probably stay in development by the community for a few more years. The camera won’t let you down, it will record up to 4K and 60 FPS, the battery will last long depends on how you use it, the CPU will work for at least 5 years more. Furthermore, this is one of the best flagships Xiaomi has ever done.
