MIUI gallery is getting yet another new feature; you will now be able to synchronize the photos and videos on your phone with OneDrive! A few months ago, Xiaomi announced that the backup feature in MIUI gallery will be shut down. Xiaomi Cloud cannot be used for photo and video backup anymore and then Xiaomi integrated Google Photos backup into the MIUI gallery app. Now, Xiaomi is integrating another backup option into the MIUI gallery, and that is OneDrive. Here’s some new details revealed by Kacper Skrzypek.
According to information shared by Kacper Skrzypek, OneDrive synchronization in MIUI gallery will only be available on devices running the global ROM. Additionally, the OneDrive photo backup feature will not be available on tablets.
To use OneDrive photo backup through MIUI gallery on Xiaomi phones, you’ll need to turn off photo/video backup in Xiaomi Cloud. Once you’ve done that, you can start the backup process to OneDrive. Furthermore, the OneDrive backup feature may not be available in your country. According to Kacper’s information, it won’t be available in Macau, Hong Kong, Russia, Belarus, Cuba, Isle of Man, Lebanon, South Georgia and South Sandwich Island, Venezuela and a few more areas.
OneDrive backup will initially be available on specific models. Xiaomi 12T series and Xiaomi 13 series are not included in the list of phone models expected to receive OneDrive backup. Although these are one of the most recent devices offered by Xiaomi, the reason for their exclusion from the list still remains unknown. It appears that the integration of OneDrive backup into the MIUI gallery may require additional development time. However, we can confirm that the following phone models will eventually support OneDrive backup within the MIUI gallery, here are the devices.
- POCO F4 GT (ingres)
- Xiaomi 13 Lite (ziyi)
