A new tip suggests that the OnePlus 16 will not arrive globally, including in India.
The Chinese brand is already working on the OnePlus 16, which is rumored to launch in China in October. However, it seems the brand is making major changes to its plans for the launch of the said phone.
According to Yogesh Brar, OnePlus India is shifting its strategy, with the OnePlus 16R likely going to be the brand’s next flagship offering in India. Just like in the past, the said model could borrow some details of OnePlus’ major flagship model, but will also get some downgrades. For instance, instead of the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6, it could be powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 or Snapdragon 8 Gen 6 chip.
Brar added that after this, the brand’s offering for India will be followed by the Nord series and N series.
The news is not a surprise, especially since OnePlus exited North America and Europe to focus on China for its high-end offerings. Rumor has it that the same could happen in India in the future, and it seems to have already started.
Back to the OnePlus 16, we heard that it will be offered in 8GB/256GB, 12GB/256GB, 12GB/512GB, and 16GB/1TB, priced at CN¥4,999 ($740), CN¥5,499 ($814), CN¥5,999 ($888), and CN¥7,499 ($1100), respectively.
As previously shared, OnePlus will return to using a circular camera island design on the phone. Moreover, the OnePlus 16 is reportedly coming with a 6.78″ 1.5K 185Hz OLED display, an ultrasonic fingerprint scanner, and a 200MP periscope telephoto camera with 3x optical zoom. It is also expected to arrive with a 9000mAh battery, 100W wired and 50W wireless charging, a Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro chip, and up to an IP69 rating.
