Xiaomi has silently introduced their latest wireless Redmi Buds 4 Active earphones, which will be available for purchase globally and is not exclusive to China.
Redmi Buds 4 Active brings several improvements in comparison to the standard Redmi Buds 4. The Active variant utilizes a 12mm driver, whereas the vanilla Buds 4 has a 10mm driver. Here are the complete specifications of Redmi Buds 4 Active.

The use of a 12mm driver is a significant improvement on Redmi Buds 4 Active is pretty great however, it falls behind in terms of noise cancellation options compared to the regular Buds 4. Redmi Buds 4 features active noise cancellation mode, normal mode, and transparent mode for ambient sound, while the Buds 4 Active only offers normal mode and active noise cancellation mode.
Redmi Buds 4 Active model lacks the IP54 certification that’s already present on Redmi Buds 4, indicating that Redmi Buds 4 is water and dust resistant. Redmi Buds 4 Active has IPX4 certification, signifying water resistance only. If you can’t decide which one to buy, the only thing that will determine your choice is the price.
Redmi Buds 4 Active introduces a fresh design, featuring larger earbuds and a more rounded charging case compared to the Buds 4. It incorporates Bluetooth 5.3 and supports Google Fast Pair. With a fully charged charging case, it offers up to 28 hours of listening time, with 5 hours of listening time on a single charge of the buds. It’s also good at charging speeds, providing 110 minutes of listening time with just a 10-minute charge.
As previously mentioned, the earbuds has active noise cancellation but only offer two modes: ANC on and ANC off. You can control the earphones through touch, including functions like double-tap to play/pause music or answer a call, triple-tap to skip to the next track or reject a call, and press and hold to enable low latency mode.
The earbuds are listed on the Xiaomi website as model M2232E1, with only the black color variant currently available. The charging case weighs 34.7g, and the total weight, including the earbuds, is 42 grams. The charging case has a battery capacity of 440 mAh. The earbuds unfortunately support only the SBC codec, lacking AAC compatibility.
