Redmi Buds 5 was unveiled along with Redmi Note 13 series at today’s September 21 launch event. Redmi Note 13 series is quite powerful midrange smartphone lineup, with its affordable price and beefy spec sheet. Redmi Buds 5 is only available in China currently, but it will reach the global market as well. Redmi Buds 5 has a price tag of $27 USD approximately in China.
Redmi Buds 5 features a glossy plastic design and bears a resemblance to the Dream Space special edition of Redmi Note 13 Pro+. Dream Space color of Redmi Note 13 Pro+ and Taro Purple color of Redmi Buds 5 will complement each other beautifully.
Redmi Buds 5 supports active noise cancellation feature and achieves a noise cancellation depth of up to 46dB. It also offers a wide frequency range of ANC at 2kHz, three levels of noise cancellation depth, and three levels of transparency mode. With the three distinct ANC modes, you can enable the standard mode in less noisy environments, for instance, in places like libraries where there isn’t much noise. With the standard mode, the earbuds won’t run noise reduction at the maximum performance level.
Redmi Buds come with dual microphones and can reduce wind noise during calls by using both of the microphones. According to Xiaomi’s statement, it can completely block out the sound of wind blowing at a speed of 6m/s during calls.
Redmi Buds 5 is equipped with a 1.6mm precision coil winding and a 12.4mm large polymer-coated titanium coil, and it has received the Netease Cloud Music hardware certification. Redmi Buds has Bluetooth 5.3 connectivity and AAC audio codec.
Redmi Buds 5 can achieve a total of 40 hours of listening time when used with the charging case. The earbuds itself provide 10 hours of playback time with single charge when ANC is off and 8 hours with ANC on. When ANC is enabled, the earbuds, together with the charging case, offer 30 hours of usage time. Redmi Buds 5 comes with a charging cable (USB-A to USB-C) in the box.
