A brand official confirmed that Xiaomi will soon share the first details of the anticipated Redmi K90 series.
The news about the lineup is not new, with past reports showing it on various certification platforms. Now, Redmi Product Manager Hu Xinxin has revealed that the company will announce the series soon.
In a conversation with fans on Weibo, the official said that some details about the phone would be released this week. Moreover, the manager affirmed speculations that the lineup’s models would feature some upgrades.
According to earlier leaks, the series will support 100W charging. The Redmi K90 and Redmi K90 Pro will also have an IP68 rating, 100W charging, and an ultrasonic fingerprint scanner. However, the Pro model reportedly has a bigger 7500mAh battery, while the vanilla variant could have a smaller 7100mAh cell. The series is also rumored to feature “new” displays, dual speakers, and metal frames, with Pro offering a 6.59″ flat 2K 120Hz LTPS OLED and a 50MP (1/1.3″ OmniVision OV50Q) periscope unit with macro capabilities.
All the series models (vanilla, Pro, and Ultra variants) are also reportedly equipped with a telephoto unit. This would be a huge change from the current K80 series, wherein only the Pro model has a telephoto.
In the past, well-known leaker Digital Chat Station revealed that the series’ camera island has “some tricks up its sleeves.” The tipster didn’t share the specifics, but some fans speculate that it could either bring RGB lighting or a fan. It is worth recalling that earlier reports have stated that several companies are now exploring the use of a built-in waterproof fan in their upcoming devices.
