Continue reading...Intel announced the release of a line of Xeon Cascade processors Lake-AP (Advanced Performance), created for data centers, as well as models of Xeon E-2100 for entry-level servers.
Cascade Lake-AP will be available in variations with 48 cores and 12 DDR4 communication channels, that is, 96 cores and 24 DDR4 channels on servers with two processor sockets. Intel states that the new products offer the highest performance for computing in the field of AI and IAAS (Infrastructure as a Service).
The new processors outperformed the Intel Xeon Scalable 8180 by up to 1.8 times and the AMD EPYC 7601 up to 3.5 times in the Linpack and Stream Triad tests. Details of the basic characteristics are not, but most likely still used 14-nm process technology.
