In recent days we shared the fact that Xiaomi 12 Ultra will be renamed as Xiaomi 12S Ultra. You can find the post here.
Earlier we posted that Xiaomi 12S and Xiaomi 12S Pro will be announced but we had no info how “Ultra” model will be named. Since earlier “Ultra” models named as Xiaomi Mi 10 Ultra and Xiaomi Mi 11 Ultra everyone expects to see Xiaomi 12 Ultra but it didn’t happen like so.
Xiaomi 12S, Xiaomi 12S Pro, and Xiaomi 12S Ultra are the phones in Xiaomi 12S series. The new phones will be available in July 4.
Why renamed to 12S Ultra?
It has really good reason that it named to 12S Ultra. Lei Jun finally responds to why it’s been renamed.
Xiaomi already released the Xiaomi 12 series in the end of the 2021. Xiaomi 12 and 12 Pro were released but there’s no an Ultra model among 12 series.
Xiaomi planned to release Xiaomi 12 Ultra model with Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 in early 2022 but then they abandoned using 8 Gen 1. Instead they will release the Ultra model with Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1.
Since “Xiaomi 12S” series will have Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 processor and Ultra model will also have that, Xiaomi calls it 12S Ultra.
In short Xiaomi 12S and 12S Pro will be upgraded version of previous Xiaomi 12 series. Ultra model will be the flagship of Xiaomi using Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1.
