The Xiaomi 17 Ultra could arrive in Europe with a special edition called the “Leica Leitzphone Edition.”
The device will soon join the Xiaomi 17 series. According to earlier reports, the phone is now being prepared by the brand and is expected to start pre-orders in China on December 15. After this, the device will be launched globally, including in Europe.
Interestingly, the phone is rumored to be coming in a special edition as well. It was identified in the IMEI database, bearing two model numbers, indicating that it has two variants. According to the listing, the phone carries the 2512BPNDAG (P1 internal codename) and 25128PNA1G (P1S) model numbers. The second variant was added recently, and the S in its codename is said to stand for “Special.” The listing even explicitly names it as “Leica Leitzphone powered by Xiaomi.”
This suggests that the device could be presented to the market as the Xiaomi 17 Ultra Leica Leitzphone Edition, further highlighting the brand’s partnership with Leica. It could arrive with the same specs as the standard Xiaomi 17 Ultra, but it will feature a special design and camera-centric features. It could also be offered with some special accessories included in a photography kit.
According to tips, the Chinese brand is keeping the circular camera island design in the phone. However, from the four rear cameras of predecessors, the Chinese giant is reportedly reducing it to three.
Despite having fewer lenses, the phone reportedly has better cameras than its predecessor. Leaks suggest that Xiaomi will focus on using larger lenses this time, with some tipsters stating that the company is adding a new Leica coating to the cameras. As per rumors, the lenses the phone houses include the 50MP OVX10500U for the main unit, the 200MP S5KHPE for telephoto, and 50MP OV50M or 50MP S5KJN5 for the ultrawide. The selfie camera, on the other hand, could arrive with a 50MP OV50M lens.
