According to a new tip, the next Xiaomi 18 Pro and Xiaomi 18 Pro Max will have downgraded periscope telephoto units.
The numbered flagship series is known for offering impressive details in all departments. Last year’s Xiaomi 17 Pro series saw huge sales not just for its rear display but also for its powerful camera system. To recall, both Xiaomi 17 Pro and 17 Pro Max feature a 50MP periscope telephoto unit with a 115mm focal length. However, a new tip says that the Xiaomi 18 Pro and Xiaomi 18 Pro Max will get a less powerful periscope camera with only 85mm focal length. As such, instead of the 5x optical zoom, we expect the next Xiaomi Pro series models to only offer 3x optical zoom.
On a positive note, the Xiaomi 18 Pro is rumored to get a 200MP 1/1.28″ lens with LOFIC HDR 3.0 support. According to reports, the next Pro series will feature SmartSens sensors.
The devices are also rumored to get new chips, the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro, and bigger batteries. Also, they will retain the rear display features of the current Xiaomi 17 Pro models. According to reports, the next-gen rear displays offer more software features, including an “AI-powered smart window.”
