Xiaomi India falls down to second position in India for market share of March 2022

At least in India, Xiaomi‘s philosophy of providing the best hardware at very honest or reasonable prices appears to be working. For years, the company has led the country’s smartphone market share. Most of the time, the brand held the No. 1 smartphone brand title in India, with more than 15% market share. Counterpoint Research has published the March 2022 Indian smartphone shipment report. This appears to be quite surprising.

Xiaomi India felt down to No.2 or still No.1?

According to counterpoint’s Indian smartphone shipment report for the month of March 2022, Xiaomi managed to maintain a 22 percent market share. However, its rival Samsung has managed to surpass Xiaomi with a phenomenal market share of 27 percent in India. However, the report focuses on the month of March in particular. The Xiaomi fell to second place, particularly this month. According to the quarterly report, the brand is still the No. 1 smartphone brand in India.

However, this monthly report could be a simple warning for the brand to fix its flaws if users are shifting to other brands or if the preference for purchasing Xiaomi smartphones has decreased significantly. If the brand continues to lose market share at the same rate, other brands will be able to surpass the firm and take first place. The brand must also address and correct its flaws; otherwise, their market share will decline in the near future.

There could be a variety of reasons for the brand’s decline in market share in India in March 2022. Many users complained about various flaws and quality issues. The brand was also recently accused of violating India’s foreign trade policies, with seizures totalling nearly USD 725 million.
