Xiaomi submitted numerous patent applications and received some grants before releasing their first EV. While Xiaomi was only at the beginning of the road, it was reported that they’re not far away from the manufacturing.
On November 27 of last year, the Administrative Committee of the Beijing Economic and Technological Development Zone officially announced the establishment of Xiaomi Car in the Beijing Economic and Technological Development Zone by signing a cooperation agreement with Xiaomi.
On September 1 of last year, Xiaomi Motors was also registered in Beijing, and the first factory will be built in Beijing.
Xiaomi’s CEO, Lei Jun has a significant impact on how the new electric vehicle will be managed. The new vehicle is anticipated to begin official mass production in the first half of 2024.
Xiaomi’s self driving technology, according to Lei Jun, has begun testing. It is planned to put the first 140 test vehicles across the country in 2024.
It is anticipated that the Xiaomi Auto team will make use of self developed autonomous driving technology and that the starting price of the future EV would exceed 40,000 USD.
