ARM architecture is now also used in the computer industry, apart from cell phones and tablets. We saw the first for daily usage example in the M1 chipset models of the Apple’s Mac PC’s. This time, new products with the ARM architecture will be launched by Xiaomi. Xiaomi is focusing on the ARM platform instead of using traditional brands like Intel or AMD. Xiaomi’s new laptop is powered by a Snapdragon 8cx Gen2.
The Xiaomi Notebook S 12.4 uses the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8cx Gen2. Although the Snapdragon 8cx Gen3 is on the market, it is questionable why an older model is used. Xiaomi Notebook S 12.4 with Qualcomm’s previous generation 8cx Gen2 chipset has a Geekbench score of 766 in single core and 2892 in multi core. As the name of the notebook suggests, the new Xiaomi Notebook S has a 12.4-inch screen. It is the smallest notebook manufactured by Xiaomi.
In addition to the Snapdragon chipset, the equipment also includes 8 GB RAM. Further information about the hardware is not yet available. Compared with the previous generation 8cx Gen 2, the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8cx Gen 3 is 40% more powerful in single core performance and 85% more powerful in multi core performance. As it is still under development, the Xiaomi Notebook S 12.4 may be using the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8cx Gen 2. In the final version we can see the 8cx Gen 3 chipset.
