Xiaomi is rumored to be preparing its second smartphone model that will be powered by its next-generation, self-developed chip.
The Xiaomi 15S Pro was launched in May. It was based on the Xiaomi 15 Pro, and while it didn’t make a grand entrance by offering surprising features like a rear display or a super-large battery, it helped the brand to make history by housing its first in-house chip, the Xiaomi Xring O1.
Now, tipster Smart Pikachu hints that the said model’s successor is already under development.
The leaker suggested that the phone could also follow the same moniker and launch time frame. This could also mean that the phone will be based on the current Xiaomi 17 Pro model, with the Xring O2 being its main highlight.
Whether using a Qualcomm or an Xring chip, nonetheless, the Xiaomi 17 series is already a success in China. During its launch, the Pro series immediately sold out due to high demand. To recall, both the Xiaomi 17 Pro and Xiaomi 17 Pro Max feature rear displays, which helped them gain market attraction. In the company’s last report, the series allegedly reached two million unit sales, with the Pro Max dominating its segment in China.
