We are still waiting for Google’s official announcement about the debut of its Pixel 9 series (which reportedly includes the Pixel Fold), but rumors about the models are already widespread online. One of them includes renders of the Pixel 9 and Pixel Fold 2, which are provided by well-known third-party case manufacturer ThinBorne.
The renders echo earlier reports about the designs of the upcoming Pixel models. In the images shared by the firm, the Pixel 9 is shown still sporting the iconic horizontal pill-shaped camera island on the back. Unlike the earlier Pixel series, however, the Pixel 9 in the render shows flat edges, making it appear like an iPhone. Its edges, however, are expected to remain curved.
The details appear to be adopted in Fold 2 as well. Nonetheless, based on the renders, the design of the phone’s rear camera island will dramatically change. Unlike the original fold, Fold 2 will employ a square-ish island that will be placed in the upper left section of the back. Based on its arrangement in a render, its new rear folded design appears like an iPhone. The camera lenses, however, will still adopt Pixel’s pill-shaped elements.
According to earlier reports, the Fold 2 will join the Pixel 9 series and will be called the Pixel 9 Pro Fold. The device is believed to have the “comet” codename internally. It will join other models in the series, including the standard Pixel 9 (“tokay”), Pixel 9 Pro (“caiman”), and Pixel 9 Pro XL (“comodo”).
