Counterpoint: Realme, Xiaomi, Vivo dominate youth demographic in India

According to the latest report of research firm Counterpoint Research, Realme, Xiaomi, and Vivo are the top smartphone brand choices among youth in India.

As a huge market with numerous brands to offer, India offers tough competition for each smartphone company in the industry. One includes giants like Samsung. Despite this, Counterpoint shared in a recent report that three of the top spots in its survey were snatched by three Chinese brands: Realme, Xiaomi, and Vivo.

According to the firm, it conducted a survey of participants aged 16 to 25 in India, where Realme, Xiaomi, and Vivo received 58%, 54%, and 53% popularity shares, respectively. Participants in the survey considered value for money (25%), technology (18%), and quality (16%) as the key factors in their decision.

As companies under BBK Electronics, it is a huge success both for Realme and Vivo. The news, nonetheless, is not a surprise for the former, thanks to its several recent releases that drew the attention of its fans in India. To recall, Realme finally brought back its GT series in India with the release of the GT 6T and the upcoming arrival of the GT 7 Pro.

“Realme has established a strong global footprint, especially within the younger demographic,” Counterpoint Director Tarun Pathak commented on Realme’s success. “According to Counterpoint’s latest consumer surveys, Realme is popular among Indonesia’s young smartphone consumers, while the brand is known for its product quality in Bangladesh. Around the world, Realme has been praised for catering to young smartphone users by tailoring its strategies, product designs and pricing to their preferences.”
