Vivo X500 Ultra 10x telephoto canceled

Vivo has reportedly scrapped its plan to use a telephoto lens with 10x optical zoom on the X500 Ultra.

The X500 series is expected to launch in September. The phone is rumored to offer several upgrades across several areas, including the camera department.

According to an earlier report, the phone will get a significant optical zoom boost, reaching up to 10x. To compare, the X300 Ultra currently offers a 200MP 85mm Zeiss telephoto with OIS and 3.7x optical zoom.

However, reputable tipster Digital Chat Station has recently negated the claim, saying that the brand has ditched the idea. No reason was given for the decision, but he added that Vivo will still use a 200MP periscope with In-Sensor Zoom support.

In line with this, DCS noted that the Oppo Find X10 Ultra will be the only upcoming model with a dual telephoto lens supporting 10x optical zoom. According to the tipster, there will also be upgrades, including in the camera department. To recall, the Find X9 Ultra features a 200MP main camera with OIS, a 50MP ultrawide, a 200MP telephoto with OIS and 3x optical zoom, a 50MP telephoto with sensor-shift optical stabilization and 10x optical zoom (allegedly 20x optical-quality zoom), and a 3.2MP monochrome.
