After earlier claims, a reliable tipster has revealed why Vivo won’t give us the iQOO 16 Ultra.
The iQOO 16 series is now in the works. An earlier report stated that the Ultra model would include a built-in cooling fan. However, a buzz says that the brand actually axed the variant.
In China, some fans speculate that it is due to the rising memory cost, but reputable leaker Digital Chat Station says there is a bigger reason behind this decision.
While DCS did not directly dismiss the claim about the memory hike, he explained that iQOO wouldn’t regularly release an Ultra device, and might skip this generation. According to him, the company wants to introduce the Ultra variant in its latest series when there is a “breakthrough in technology.”

To recall, the iQOO 15 Ultra debuted as a game-focused device that also impresses in durability, camera, display, and other areas. It features a powerful Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chip, further enhanced by the Q3 gaming chip, LPDDR5X RAM, and UFS 4.1 storage. For hour-long gaming, it uses a 7400mAh battery that supports 100W charging. It also offers an impressive 17x17mm cooling fan system and dual 600Hz shoulder triggers for a better gaming experience. Other details gaming enthusiasts will appreciate include the phone’s dual-axis vibration motors and 2K Samsung M14 LTPO display.
For photos, its 50MP IMX921 1/1.56″ OIS main camera is complemented by a 50MP ultrawide and a 50MP 1/1.95″ telephoto camera with 3x optical zoom and OIS. It is also protected by IP68 and IP69 ratings.
