OnePlus to launch a 4G model amid India exit rumors

According to a new report, OnePlus will reintroduce 4G in India. Interestingly, a separate report says the brand will leave the country in 2027.

Weeks ago, we heard about a massive corporate restructure involving Oppo and OnePlus. As previously reported, the parent company, Oppo, plans to gradually phase out OnePlus in markets such as Europe and the US due to weak sales amid intense market competition.

Now, in addition to the markets mentioned, a new Bloomberg report says the brand will also leave India in 2027. The brand is believed to have already started the move, following the end of its partnership with offline stores.

Soon, more global markets are expected to follow to see the exit of OnePlus, though the company has yet to comment on the matter.

Ahead of its 2027 exit, folks at Smartprix say that OnePlus is planning to introduce a 4G smartphone in India. The move will reportedly help the brand save on budget and allocate its 5G module fund to further improve other areas of the smartphone, making the offering more competitive. This is believed to be the brand’s strategy to combat the ongoing memory crisis in the industry, prompting manufacturers to increase the prices of their upcoming and current smartphones.
