You read that right. You can get a phone for around $12. However, the HMD 106 Pure is not for everyone.
HMD is known for bringing us the most affordable feature phones in the market. This week, another one has been spotted in Pakistan, though not in the brand’s official store.
This specific phone is a simple feature phone offering a QQVGA display, a microSD slot, a 3.5mm headphone jack, S30+ OS, and a 1000mAh battery. It comes in Dark Gray and Teal Green colorways.
It is powered by a Unisoc 6531E, which is the issue. This means the phone’s connectivity is limited to 2G, so it won’t work in places that no longer support the connection.
On a positive note, HMD still has a plethora of affordable smartphones and feature phones currently available. For instance, the HMD 105 costs only around ₹2,199 ($23) in India but already comes with 4G connectivity, an MP3 player, the Phone Talker app, 32GB max SD card support, a removable 1450mAh battery, Bluetooth 5.0, and the Cloud Phone App.
