Another detached Google Pixel 9 Pro camera island case reported

A new case of Google Pixel 9 Pro camera island coming loose has been reported by a user online.

The Google Pixel 9 series was launched in August last year. Yet, even though that was just a few months ago, several issues are already pestering the new models.

The most recent one questions the durability of the Google Pixel 9 Pro, with its camera island detaching in some units.

The first case was reported last October, with a user saying it was first noticed after the unit’s camera experienced fogging while in the shower. An inspection revealed that the camera bar actually separated from the back panel. Thankfully, the unit was reportedly replaced and was considered an isolated case.

However, a new case has been reported recently. A user on Reddit shared the images of the Google Pixel 9 Pro with its camera island detached from the back panel. According to the post, the unit was properly used and even had a case with a screen protector, with the owner noting that it was “never dropped or damaged in any way.”

Sadly, unlike the first case reported, the phone’s owner shared that Google didn’t replace the unit since it had already been in use for more than 90 days. While the unit could remain functional, such an issue undermines the IP68 protection feature in the Pixel 9 series.

The news follows several issues experienced by Google Pixel 9 series phone owners, including camera tilting, a wireless charging bug, an auto-brightness problem, and delayed display response in the Google Pixel 9 Pro XL.

Moreover, owners of the Pixel 4a units have recently experienced a huge issue in their units caused by the company’s own update. Rolling back to previous firmware is no longer possible after Google deleted it. Ultimately, although the company is offering battery replacement and a $100 credit, affected Google Pixel 4a would still have to spend extra one way or another.
