Google’s long-awaited Pixel 6a device and the Pixel Watch, may be introduced at the Google I/O 2022 event on May 11. However, this will be just a simple introduction, devices may take a little longer to launch.
Why Pixel 6a and Pixel Watch Have Been Delayed?
It has been months since the Pixel 6 series was introduced, and the Pixel 6a device should have been introduced already. According to Jon Prosser, the device, which is expected to be introduced at the Googe I/O 2022 event, unfortunately will not be available until July 28. The reason for this is the worldwide chip crisis that has occurred in recent years. Likewise, the delayed Pixel Watch is likely to be introduced with the Pixel 7 series in October.
These devices were expected to launch in the first quarter of 2022. However, Google seems to have changed its mind, and reason is clear: the chip crisis. There will be a possible preview at the I/O 2022 event, release later. So what are the specifications of the Pixel 6a device? Any new developments regarding Pixel Watch? There are no reports on Pixel Watch specifications yet, probably comes with Wear OS with Google AI. But Pixel 6a leaks available.
Pixel 6a Possible Specifications
For now, we have possible specifications of Pixel 6a device and possible render images. Device has a Google Tensor processor, which we can understand from the GeekBench test we recently detected. You can find the relevant article here. Pixel 6a will come with “bluejay” codename and will be available in black, white and green colors. The device will come with 6GB-8GB/128GB-256GB models.
The device looks like a scaled-down version of the Pixel 6. It has a 6.2′ OLED display with a centered hole design and an in-display fingerprint. It may have dual-camera setup. Judging by shape of the main camera, it can be said that there will be a Samsung GN1 50MP sensor like the Pixel 6, but this isn’t the case.
According to 9to5Google, when the Google Camera application’s APK file is parsed, camera sensors of the device codenamed “bluejay” are revealed. Pixel 6a main camera is Sony Exmor IMX363, which is the classic camera sensor that has been on all Pixel devices since Pixel 3. Second camera is Sony Exmor IMX386 12MP ultra-wide. And selfie camera is Sony Exmor IMX355 8MP. We can say that it is a little behind the Pixel 6 series in terms of camera. Also this phone will receive 3 years of software and up to 5 years of security updates, similar to the Pixel 6.
