Honor 500 series sketches show pill-shaped cam island design; Price hike reportedly possible

A new leak reveals the possible design Honor could use for the rumored Honor 500 series. According to the tip, the brand could also offer the said lineup at higher price tags this time.

We’ve been hearing about the Honor 500 series in recent weeks, and some leaks have even included alleged renders and live images of the units. While the earlier leaks suggested that the lineup could adopt the same design as its predecessor, a new material shared online says otherwise.

According to the sketches provided by reliable tipster Digital Chat Station, the Honor 500 series could arrive with an iPhone 17 Air-like design for its camera island. According to the tipster, the vanilla model is the one illustrated in the images, but the Honor 500 Pro also features the same design, albeit with an additional camera on its back.

Interestingly, aside from the same camera module shape, the device depicted in the drawings also appears to have a thin form and flat side frames. In front, it has a punch-hole cutout for the selfie camera and rounded corners for its display. If the details are accurate, this makes the brand one of the latest to join the Air trend, following the release of the Nubia Air with a similar design.

DCS also noted that “imaging, performance, battery, and peripherals” have all been improved and that each section is “using top-tier components in its class.” This includes a Snapdragon 8 series chip. To this end, the account noted that there may be a possible price increase in the series. To recall, the Honor 400 starts at CN¥2499 in China for its 12GB/256GB configuration, while the base 12GB/256GB option of the Pro costs CN¥3399.

According to reports, the Honor 500 Pro model is rumored to feature a Snapdragon 8 Elite chip and is said to have the largest battery in its class. In the camera department, the phone is expected to feature a 200MP 1/1.4″ main camera, allegedly paired with a 64MP OmniVision OV64B periscope telephoto lens offering 3x optical zoom.

According to DCS last month, the Honor 500 series would be “stronger” than the Honor 400 models. To recall, the Honor 400 is limited to an IP66 rating, while the Honor Pro has IP68 and IP69 ratings. This could mean that both the 500 and 500 Pro would soon offer the same high-protection ratings or higher.
