Amid rumors about Honor preparing for the launch of the Magic V Flip, a new design for the company’s clamshell device has emerged online.
The photos come from the company’s patent filed in May 2022. However, the ideas were just recently approved by the China National Intellectual Property Administration (via 91Mobiles), causing the images to surface online.
From the images shown, it appears the brand will opt for a whole new different design for the unnamed device. Unlike today’s flip phones with smooth corners, the images show a phone with an edgy design. Specifically, it seems to apply low-polygon modeling, making the corners of the phone appear unique.
Interestingly, it appears Honor is planning to use the same shape to decide the shape of the handheld’s internal and external displays. According to the images, the main screen will follow the shape of the edges while boasting thin bezels and a punch-hole cutout for the selfie camera. In the back, the external screen will consume almost the entire upper half of the phone’s back, resulting in a huge and spacious display. In terms of the rear camera system, it seems Honor wants to focus more on the space for the external screen as the pill-shaped camera island appears small.
Details about the concept remain unknown. Moreover, while the revelation sounds exciting for fans, it is important to note that the details mentioned above are just a patent that the company could and could not apply in its product plans. Yet, this adds to the excitement revolving around Honor’s foldable visions, with the company rumored to announce the Magic V Flip soon.
