Huawei Mate 80 series coming with built-in magnets for wireless charging, bunch of color options

A leaker claims that the upcoming Huawei Mate 80 series features a magnetic technology for wireless charging. The lineup will also offer a plethora of colorways this year.

The lineup is expected to launch in China this November. Ahead of its arrival, tipsters continue to share details about the series, which include the Huawei Mate 80, Mate 80 Pro, Mate 80 Pro+, and Mate 80 RS models.

According to new information shared by Smart Pikachu, the phones are expected to arrive with built-in magnets, which should make wireless charging more convenient for users. This will remove the need for magnetic cases. However, the account noted that the addition of the magnets could affect the battery size of the phones. As per earlier rumors, the lineup is expected to feature a battery capacity of around 6,000mAh.

Meanwhile, Digital Chat Station shared all the colorways registered for the market release of the phones. According to the account, the vanilla model is coming in Obsidian Black, Snow White, and Spruce Green options. The Pro variants, on the other hand, are available in Obsidian Black, Snow White, Dawn Gold, Aurora Blue, Midnight Gold, Polar Black, Polar Silver, Mystic Black, Pure White, and Hibiscus Purple.

The news follows several leaks about the phones, including the arrival of 3D face recognition in all models. The Mate 80 series is also reportedly equipped with better power management and reduced power consumption. This complements an earlier leak stating that the series will utilize the Kirin 9030 chip, which is expected to offer 20% better performance than its predecessor. The devices’ memory has also been upgraded, and the lineup is said to offer “system-level AI analytics and services.”

In the camera department, the series will offer a variable aperture, upgraded zoom and flash, and a color temperature sensor. According to reports, the vanilla and Pro models will feature 50MP 1/1.5″ and 50MP 1/1.3″ main cameras. The Pro+ and RS models, on the other hand, are rumored to come with a 50MP 1/1.3″ SmartSens 590 sensor.
