According to a well-known leaker, the Huawei Mate XT2 and Huawei Mate 90 series will be unveiled in September, though in two separate events.
This is not surprising, nonetheless, as earlier rumors said that several brands are planning to strategize their launch events to better compete with Apple.
To recall, the Huawei Mate XT and Huawei Mate XTs were both announced in September, while the Huawei Mate 80 series arrived in November last year.
Now, Digital Chat Station claims that the successors of the said series will be launched in September this year.
According to DCS, the Mate XT2 will arrive first in early September, while the Mate 90 lineup will go official later that month.
As previously reported, the Mate XT 2 will feature a new folding mechanism, a dedicated cover display, and a new circular camera island design. An earlier report claimed that upgrades to the Huawei Mate XT 2 will include a new Kirin 9050 Pro chip, a larger 6000mAh battery, and a noticeably reduced crease due to “significantly improved” hinge technology. The tip also said that its camera can match the performance of the Mate X7, which features a 50MP f1.4-f4.0 RYYB main camera with OIS, a 40MP RYYB ultrawide, and a 50MP f2.2 RYYB telephoto macro with OIS and 3.5x optical zoom.
Meanwhile, the Mate 90 series is reportedly adopting a teleconverter attachment. The smartphone series itself is also said to adopt a new design. This is somewhat expected, especially if the lineup is indeed getting a teleconverter support. Tipsters claimed that the high-end Pro Max and RS models will have upgraded camera systems. A tipster noted that there would be two 50MP periscope telephoto cameras, with one featuring 10x optical zoom. The series is also said to be getting ultrasonic in-display fingerprint sensors soon.
