Huawei vertical trifold patent leaks

According to a new patent that has emerged online, Huawei is exploring a vertical trifold form factor for its devices.

Huawei made history by introducing the first trifold device in the market: the Huawei Mate XT Ultimate Design. Despite its steep price, it became a success and garnered significant sales.

The Chinese giant might be planning to introduce another trifold, but this time in a vertical orientation.

According to the leaked patent, the form factor makes it look like a clamshell phone folded in three. The phone feature hinges that allow it to fold to 1/3 of its size, and so as a technology that prevents signal loss when it is folded.

The news follows a massive success of the Huawei Pura X Max foldable in China. According to Yu Chengdong, Executive Director of Huawei and Chairman of the Terminal (Consumer) Business Group, it has surpassed all the sales of the brand’s earlier foldables. While no official numbers were provided, an earlier leak revealed that the phone beat all foldable phones even in its first week of sales, with one tip stating its initial sales were 180% higher than those of its predecessor.
