Xiaomi has finally introduced Xiaomi Band 8 and Xiaomi Watch 2 Pro in the global market. Xiaomi Band 8 had already been introduced in China earlier than the September 26 launch event, and now it’s available in the global market. On the other hand, Xiaomi Watch 2 Pro will only be available in the global market but not in China. Both devices are actually smartwatches, but Xiaomi Band 8 is essentially a simple fitness tracker, while the Watch 2 Pro is much more feature-rich and comes with the WearOS operating system. You can make voice calls with the watch and make contactless payments using your watch.
Xiaomi Band 8
Xiaomi Band 8 follows a familiar design philosophy, just like its predecessors in the Mi Band series. It boasts a compact form factor, measuring 10.99mm in thickness and weighing 27 grams.
Xiaomi Band 8 features a 1.62-inch OLED display with a resolution of 192×490 (326 ppi) and the brightness of 600 nits. Xiaomi Band 8 has a 190 mAh battery, which can last up to 16 days with always on display off and 6 days with always on mode on.
This new smart band incorporates some features commonly featured in previous Mi Band series, including 5ATM water resistance, heart rate monitoring, blood oxygen level tracking, stress monitoring, and sleep tracking.
Xiaomi Band 8 will bring brand new Pebble Mode. You can get an extra accessory to use the Band 8 on top of your shoe, that way you can receive more detailed information on your fitness activity. Xiaomi Band 8 will cost 39 EUR in Europe.
Xiaomi Watch 2 Pro
Xiaomi Watch 2 Pro boasts an exceptionally stylish design, crafted from premium-grade materials and available in two distinct colors: brown and black. The Watch 2 Pro features Snapdragon W5+ Gen 1 chipset.
Xiaomi Watch 2 Pro comes with a 1.43-inch AMOLED display that supports always on mode. The watch runs WearOS, has Wi-Fi and Bluetooth. With the help of WearOS, the users can install apps from Google Play Store.
Since the Watch 2 Pro supports e-SIM, it is possible to make voice calls without being connected to a phone. The e-SIM functionality actually makes the watch a lot more capable than the Band 8.
Xiaomi Watch 2 Pro is a very premium watch, and its price is very similar to other premium watches. The base model (Wi-Fi and Bluetooth) Xiaomi Watch 2 Pro will be priced at €269 in Europe. You need to pay €329 if you need the LTE variant.
