Xiaomi published an article today explaining what will happen to the MIUI gallery’s cloud sync feature. Xiaomi finds a solution to the sync issue by integrating Google Photos backup functionality into its own system app.
“Xiaomi is continuously searching for ways to improve our software product experience. Google Photos and Xiaomi share similar values in aiming to provide a reliable platform for users and their day-to-day moments captured on their smartphones. Our cooperation with Google Photos will offer users an easy way to ensure their data is stored securely, while being able to easily access them across different devices as required,” said Quanxin Wang, General Manager of Product & Technology, Xiaomi International.
“We’re excited to be able to help provide Xiaomi users with an even easier way to back up their photos and videos to Google Photos from their Android devices. With all your memories together, Google Photos can help you easily search, organize, share and relive your best moments on more devices,” said Shimrit Ben-Yair, Vice President, Google Photos.
The MIUI gallery app will lead you to the Google Photos app, as seen in the picture. You will also carry out the backup process there. Users of Xiaomi Cloud will have the ability to easily transfer their currently backed up videos and photos to Google Photos. On October 24th, 2022, app updates will start rolling out this capability to existing smartphones in Singapore, with other markets to follow as well.
