Xiaomi is set to unveil new Poco smartphones in the global market soon. These devices, however, are expected to be rebranded versions of Redmi models from China.
The move is not new, not just to Xiaomi, but also to other Chinese giants. To recall, smartphone manufacturers in China often rename their domestic releases in the global markets. Now, Xiaomi is doing the same to four devices spotted through Mi codes.
According to the codes, the Redmi Note 15 5G is referred to as the Poco M8 5G outside China, while the Poco M8 Pro 5G is based on the Redmi Note 15 Pro+ 5G. Meanwhile, the upcoming Redmi Turbo 5 and Redmi Turbo 5 Pro Max are expected to be the Poco X8 Pro and Poco X8 Pro Max globally, respectively.
Interestingly, the vanilla Poco X8 is not listed in the GSMA IMEI database, suggesting that it may have been canceled. According to reports, it would have been based on the Redmi Note 15 Pro 5G. As per rumors, Xiaomi will also not introduce the rumored vanilla Poco F8 model.
