Xiaomi’s once popular model Redmi Note 7 that was introduced in 2019 is almost 3 years old now. One wonders, is it still good after 3 years? Obviously, we all know the answer is subjective. Users come in all shapes, some use their phones lightly, some use it for gaming, some for graphics reason and so on. We will try to answer this question while trying not to exclude anyone.

CPU is quite outdated so performance-wise it will not satisfy your needs today and it may be slow on certain processes. If you are a light user, it still good to go maybe 1 or 2 years however an upgrade is still overdue. This device will definitely not meet your expectations if you are a mobile gamer.
Design-wise, there have been released many better designed devices but we wouldn’t say Redmi Note 7 is outdated. This is a mid-range phone, so we shouldn’t expect anything too much anyway. If you are into waterfall shaped notch, design isn’t anything bad. Eventually it all boils down to your needs. If you’re a heavy user, you should most probably upgrade or consider a newer device in the market. Xiaomi releases decent and better devices year over year and it is possible for you to find a reasonable priced one that will give you more than Redmi Note 7.
Is Redmi Note 7 still smooth?
The answer is somewhat yes but not with MIUI. However, if you decide to switch to an AOSP based ROM, your chances are much better. Pure Android user interface has always been much smoother than MIUI or other OEM ROMs as it is not as bloated. Our advise is upgrade or buy a device with much better specs if you are a heavy user, and stay a year or 2 or upgrade if you desire if you are a light user. Also, the Redmi Note 7 has recently received the MIUI 12.5 Android 10 update and will not receive any further updates. It is possible to install Android 12 using Custom ROM.
Is the Redmi Note 7 camera still successful?
yes. The Redmi Note 7 uses Samsung’s S5KGM1 sensor. Many devices of Xiaomi released in 2021 use this sensor. Thanks to the successful ISP of the Snapdragon 660, you can still take quite successful photos using Google Camera. By using RAW photo modes, you can take better pictures than most phones using long exposure. All you have to do is find the correct Google Camera settings. If you are using Redmi Note 7 and you are thinking of paying another Redmi Note 7 money to buy Redmi Note 11, do not think about it. By using Custom ROM, you can use Redmi Note 7 with high performance. Due to MIUI Skin, Redmi Note 11 does not work fast that well.
