Vivo is testing a 68MP Sony 1:1 square selfie cam

Vivo is reportedly one of the brands working on a square selfie camera for its upcoming device.

Several Chinese manufacturers have previously been reported to be trying the tech for their smartphones. To recall, rumor has it that Oppo will use a 100MP square selfie camera for its Find X10 series, and Honor is said to be having the same selfie camera design and resolution for its Honor Magic 9 series.

Now, tipster Digital Chat Station has suggested that Vivo is developing a flagship model with a square selfie camera as well, likely the Vivo X500 series. The tipster believes it is a 1:1 square front camera solution employing a 68MP Sony lens.

With the said tech, the device could deliver better selfie shots, whether in portrait or landscape orientation. Even more, this will allow Vivo and other Chinese brands to compete with Apple, which offers the iPhone 17 with an 18MP square front camera.
