Contrary to expectations, Xiaomi 12X and Redmi K50 will not launch with MIUI 13 with Android 12. Here’s why!
According to the Xiaomi update policy, Xiaomi gives 2 or 3 Android updates to each device after the launch version. Xiaomi makes 3 or 4 Android updates for CPU bases. Xiaomi likes to kill the update life same CPU bases in the same version. The SM8250, (Snapdragon 865), firstly used on the Mi 10 series. It was used for the first time in Xiaomi with Android 10. Mi 10 series will get its final update with Android 12 or Android 13. Mi 10S, Redmi K40 and POCO F3 came out with Snapdragon 870 and that is again an SM8250 CPU. They were introduced with Android 11 and its final update is planned as Android 13. According to this information, a device that comes out with Android 11 will receive its last update with Android 13. The reason for this is that Xiaomi does not want to make an extra version of Android to all SM8250 CPU-powered phones.
Xiaomi 12X and Redmi K50 are another SM8250 based phones. And these devices will be launched with Android 11. While Xiaomi started testing other Xiaomi 12 series with Android 12, Xiaomi started testing these devices with Android 11 and finished the stable version tests with Android 11.
Xiaomi 12X (codename: psyche), Redmi K50 (codename: poussin) will use Snapdragon 870+ CPU. Both have triple camera setup. Redmi K50 will have 48MP IMX582 main camera, Xiaomi 12X will have 50MP Samsung ISOCELL GN5 camera. Xiaomi 12X will be a small phone that have 6.28″ display. The Redmi K50 is expected to be a rebrand of the Redmi K40. Maybe it could be launched as Redmi K40S. Low chance.
